We woke up this morning and Jakob looked so much worse than yesterday. He had broken out in so many more spots and the tops of his hands and the top of his feet were very swollen and he was running a temp. We decided to take him back to the doctor. Thankfully the Urgent Care was open today, and when we go there we just have a co-pay like we have when we go to the doctor. We sat in the waiting room for over an hour (at least it wasn't 6-8 hours like the emergency room) and when we saw the doctor she checked Jakey's breathing and said it was fine, he has no lesions in his mouth or throat. She said that this is a classic allergic reaction to penicillin. She said usually about 48 hours after the rash starts it spikes and gets really bad. This morning was his 48 hours. He is running about a 101 degree temp. This type of reaction doesn't itch, or bother them, it just looks really bad, and can stay on him for up to two weeks(!!!) I feel so bad. His little body is so hot and red and swollen. I asked her about giving him tylenol for his fever, but she said that it wouldn't bring it down. She also said the benadryl probably won't help him either, but since he's been on it since this stuff popped up I'm just gonna keep him on it. I've just got to make sure he's nursing alot and keeping fluid in him.

Poor baby! [:( He looks miserable! I'm praying for him not to feel to bad but it doesn't look like there's any way to stop it, huh?

Poor Mommy and Daddy! I know it's upsetting to you both, but it's just part of the whole parenthood experience. It will help you be a help to someone else. Just take note of the look, shape and location so you'll know if you go through this again. I'm still glad you took him in and had it confirmed. I'm praying for you all. Love you!

POor Jakey! I know exactly how he feels. This is exactly how I would look every time I broke out and right before I started my allery shots I looked like him but worse and I had it for about 6 months or longer. Also with me I itched like crazy, I was so miserable. The only thing that would get rid of them was steroids but a couple days after I would stop taking it they would come back fast. I am glad they don't itch him like mine did me because he would probably about make himself bleed from scratching. Once the meds are out of his sytem real good they should go away but if they last too long you might want to ask the Dr. about steroids for a couple of days to help. Love Ya!

Shelly- I guess the doctor said that even steroids won't help this kind of hives :( she said you just have to let it go away. I was hoping maybe they could give him a steroid shot and he'd start getting better. She said it doesn't help and since he's so young she didn't want to give him one knowing it probably wouldn't do anything. I hope he doesn't end up having a lot of allergies, the doctor said penicillin allergies are pretty common
