Saturday we went down to a state park called "Lover's Key" it's an island right next to Bonita Springs. Bonita Springs is a really nice town. I guess every town on the coast is nice. It looks a lot like Destin, lots of condo's and big houses. The big difference between Bonita Springs/Lover's Key and Destin is the beach itself. You can probably see in the pictures but the beaches are covered in shells. When we go again we will bring water shoes for everyone. Even in the water there are tons of shells. It is fun to pick up shells and find unique ones, but it kinda hurts your feet walking on them! The state park is pretty big and they have about 3 or 4 different beaches. We rode the tram to one of the farthest beaches. The day was gorgeous and sunny, but there was a slight breeze, so it wasn't really hot. We all got a little bit too much sun in places that we forgot to apply sunscreen, or didn't reapply sunscreen. The only place Jakey got a little burned was the top of his head. I didn't think his head would get burned through his hair, but it did. (I don't think he would keep a hat on even if I tried.) Anyways, we brought our lunch and picnicked on the beach. It was a very fun day

I am learning why people only come to South Florida for half a year. I have to admit there were many days this winter where I (secretly) enjoyed the gorgeous weather and felt so sorry for all the people shoveling snow and braving freezing weather to go to work, shopping etc. I love opening all the windows and doors and letting the fresh air into the house. I am sad to say those days passed way too quickly. This weekend we had temps in the 90's and this week looks to be the same. We went on a little shopping excursion into the "big city" on Friday and I have to say it was so hot! Thankfully we just faced the heat from the car to the store, and then back to the car again. There were a noticeably smaller number of out of town license plates. I think the snow birds have headed home, and I don't blame them. While we were out we picked up a little swimming pool for Jakob. That is my theory with Florida living. If you're going to live in FL you need to live close to the water. Since we cannot provide beach front living for our son he at least needs a swimming pool. Of course a little boy who loves to take a bath will play in his swimming pool forever! He had a great time. I know most of our days this summer will probably involve that swimming pool :) We also introduced Jakob to his new favorite snack! A chocolate milk shake. Did he enjoy it? Well, as he ran in circles around his daddy (who was trying not to smack him in the head with his wii controller)  in the living room that evening, I think Jakob was trying to communicate to us that milkshakes are the best thing ever invented :) Mommy and daddy think so too, but we settled for a sugar free vanilla iced coffee (33 lbs. lost between the two of us, and we don't want to find it again!) So, that's what's going on down here right now. It's hot. Super hot. Soon we will start frequenting the beaches, Jeremy's begun fishing and is hoping to buy his own fishing kayak soon. Summer is here... 

Well, we just got back in town from a week visiting the family. I had gotten an e-mail about the airline selling 19 dollar (each way) tickets to FWB and we also found out Dave and Molly (Jeremy's Bro. and Sis-n-law) were going so we couldn't pass it up. We ended up flying for 59 dollars round trip per person. You can't beat that! Jakob got to play with his cousins at his grandmas house, we took the kids to the beach. It was in the 40's and 50's that morning, which is why all the kids were wearing warm clothes, but by the afternoon it was a gorgeous day. The water was still pretty cold, but that didn't stop Will from stripping down and getting wet :)  My parents and Jeremy's parents took us out one night (while Kara babysat :) to the boathouse and we got to have a "grown up" dinner, which I enjoyed. Even though I love my bubby it was nice to have a dinner with adult conversation. The food was SO good too! While we were there the whole budget thing with the government came up and on Friday Jeremy's boss called him and told him he had to come in for 4 hours today and then he'd be off work (without pay) until further notice. Thankfully they passed a bill where he's at least working till Thursday. Please pray this all gets worked out quickly so Jeremy can keep working (and getting paid!!!). Today I am officially trying potty training. I put Jakob in his Toy Story undies this morning after trying to get him to potty. He went to the living room and only a few minutes later started to pee. He stopped peeing and started crying and pulling at the undies. I took him to the potty and he went the rest of it in his potty, so I know he can hold it if he wants! We'll see how this goes!
