Got a fever of one hundred and three...

What do you do when you have a temperature of 103.8?

Well, first you take some Motrin

and then your daddy brings you some spider-"meen" pops from the grocery store

and you enjoy them in your undies of course!!! :)

Sing a song...

Below I posted a couple of songs that were sung this morning at my Church. The second song:  "Out Of The Depths" touches my heart every time I hear it. I feel the tears well up each time because the song seems to speak directly to my situation. I don't know about you but I feel like I'm constantly waiting for God to move in one way or another. I love the part that says no matter the questions I have, it doesn't change the fact that God's will is best. I am so thankful for the gift God has given us in music. I am thankful for the encouragement to keep trusting and to be faithful because God has a great big plan that I just can't see (and maybe can't even comprehend) right now

                    "In Your Silence"
In Your word I find the echoes of the questions in my mind;
Have I fallen from Your favor, is Your ear to me inclined?
When Your silence is unbroken, though my prayer ascends each day,
Father, keep my faith from failing in the face of long delay.

While You wait in gracious wisdom and my doubts begin to rise,
I recall Your loving kindness, and lift my hopeful eyes.
While Your hand withholds the answer, I will not withhold my heart.
I will love you in Your silence, I will trust You in the dark.

When the troubled thoughts within me hold me wakeful in the night,
And the shadows that surround me seem to hide me from Your sight.
Father, bring to my remembrance mercies shown in days gone by.
Help me rest upon Your promise: You will not neglect my cry!

While You wait in gracious wisdom and my doubts begin to rise,
I recall Your loving kindness, and lift my hopeful eyes.
While Your hand withholds the answer, I will not withhold my heart.
I will love you in Your silence, I will trust You in the dark.

(“In Your Silence,” Eileen Berry/lyrics; Molly Ijames/music.)

Out of the Depths

Out of the depths, O Lord, I cry to You
When I am tempted to despair
Though I might fail to trust Your promises
You never fail to hear my prayer
And if You judged my sin
I’d never stand again
But I see mercy in Your hands

So more than watchmen for the morning
I will wait for You, my God
When my fears come with no warning
In Your Word I’ll put my trust
When the harvest time is over and I still see no fruit
I will wait, I will wait for You

The secret mysteries belong to You
We only know what You reveal
And all my questions that are unresolved
Don’t change the wisdom of Your will
In every trial and loss
My hope is in the cross
Where Your compassions never fail

Titleless...

I keep sitting down to write a post but feel like I don't have anything interesting to write about right now. I think of cute things Jakob is doing here and there but it's never really enough to make a whole post, so I think I'll just write them all in a single post. Here's what's going on around our house lately:

Jakob has finally (at 2 and a half!) started saying "no". He actually started saying it while we were visiting home a couple weeks ago. Before that if you asked him if he wanted a certain snack or movie he would say "uh-ummm!" Now he just says no to everything. Even if he wants something he just says "no" and sometimes "nope".  It is kinda cute.

When we got a new t.v. a couple years ago we moved the old t.v. and vcr into the office. Jakob knows how to work the vcr and change his movie when he gets bored with one. He will bring me movies and say "line keeng" and he has the Lion King movie. He also knows the Toy Story movies and Tom and Jerry and Mickey Mouse movie. He knows which one is which from the writing on the top of the movies. Can we call those his first sight words??? (lol)

We have a new obsession around our house. His name is Spiderman. Thankfully Netflix has many many different episodes of Spiderman. We are currently watching the shows from back in the 70's every night (he also knows IceMan and Firestar :). He walks around shooting webs and karate kicking stuff. Last night I had one of my cookbooks on the couch (it is red and blue) and Jakob walked by, glanced at it and said diedoo-meen (which is spider man) He thought it was a Spiderman book because of it's colors :)

Last Sunday we started keeping Jakob in Church with us during worship time as a sort of practice for when he turns 3. At this Church kids leave the nursery when they're 3 years old. They stay with the adults until singing, etc is over and then they go to their children's church. (Sunday nights they sit in the service with their parents and Wednesdays they have kids for truth so they aren't with us.) I've been nervous about how he will do when he has to sit with us so someone suggested a "practice run". Everyone kept telling me he did so good and they didn't hear him, but he did talk quite a bit. We've got to work on our inside voices :D Also he kept trying to shoot a web (like spidey) at the Pastor (lol)

We were at JCPenneys the other day and Jeremy found a little boys shirt that said "dirt-ologist"
He laughed and said Jakob needed that shirt. He really does! The weather has been so nice lately that we go outside for hours every morning. The only thing Jakob wants to do outside is collect rocks and dig in the dirt. He is filthy every time we come in. Sometimes I just want to take him out in just undies because his clothes get so filthy!

I've been reading this girl named Rebekah's blog for a couple years now. Her and her husband went through an open adoption around the time we were trying to have a baby. Not knowing if we would be successful with IVF or if we'd also turn to adoption one day I really enjoyed reading her blog. I feel the way to have a really good blog is to be open and honest with people. This girl is really that way. She and her husband have recently adopted another 2 year old out of foster care. I really appreciate that she's sharing the hard times as well as the happy ones. It's a good blog and if you have time you should check it out.

There's a baby shower for one of the girls at Church on Saturday. She has 4 boys and is due sometime this summer with a little girl :) I bought the cutest little outfits the other day for the baby. I l-o-v-e shopping for girl clothes! At first I thought I'd go to the shower, but I think I have decided that I'm not going. I think this girl would totally understand my hesitation. I am feeling alot better these days but I just don't feel like I'm ready for a baby shower yet. It has nothing to do with envy, jealousy, any problem at all really, I actually feel like I might be able to make it through a shower, but I just don't know if my heart is quite ready yet so I think I'll sit this one out.

At Church on Wednesdays we started a dvd series by Paul Tripp called "Forever: why you can't live without it" It is so good! So many times I think that because I'm a Christian and because God loves me my life should be without pain. I sometimes wonder why I have so many physical issues and why I can't just be/feel "normal" like everybody else around me. One thing that Tripp said that totally encouraged me was that our pain and heartache is not getting in the way of God's plan. More often our pain and heartache is God's plan for our lives. Sometimes we need to suffer so that we will open our hands and let go of this earthly life, and our minds will be drawn to eternity. We need that heavenly perspective and sometimes it takes trouble in this life for us to remember that this world is not our home. If you can find these dvd's or even get your hands on this book you will not regret it! It is so encouraging.

Anyways, that's some of what's going on around this house lately. I went for a blood test last Friday for my thyroid. I'm pretty sure it's messed up again. I am waiting on a call from the doctors office in the next few days. I've also gotten an itch to change my hair color. I will probably go in a couple weeks. I still don't know what I want yet.  I have had to cancel 3 or 4 hair appointments due to pregnancy and morning sickness, then the miscarriage so I am in major need of some hair help. Thankfully it's just long enough now that I can pin it up so people can't see how badly my hair needs some style!

No cup is safe...

So Jakob has gotten very good at drinking from a regular cup. Sometimes I have to remind him to go slow because he gets excited or he's really thirsty and he tips the cup up too fast and gets a little wet, but he can drink from a cup easily. As a normal two year old Jakob just assumes that any cup on any surface belongs to him, meaning if your cup is accessible to him he's gonna drink out of it. I'm learning to put my cups up on the countertop so I don't find any surprises floating around in them ;)

Pictures...

I couldn't figure out how to work the timer on my camera so we had to resort to a few pictures on Jeremy's Blackberry and we didn't get a family pic :( Oh well, maybe next year (lol) Didn't my little man look so handsome in his vest and tie? We had a very good Easter Sunday and hope you did too :)

Happy Easter friends...

                                                               Isaiah 53
                                        Who has believed what he has heard from us?
                               And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
                                        2 For he grew up before him like a young plant,
                                                and like a root out of dry ground;
                                he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
                                          and no beauty that we should desire him.
                                             3  He was despised and rejected by men;
                                        a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
                                        and as one from whom men hide their faces
                                        he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
                                                    4  Surely he has borne our griefs
                                                        and carried our sorrows;
                                                  yet we esteemed him stricken,
                                                    smitten by God, and afflicted.
                                          5  But he was pierced for our transgressions;
                                                  he was crushed for our iniquities;
                                  upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
                                               and with his wounds we are healed.
                                                6  All we like sheep have gone astray;
                                      we have turned—every one—to his own way;
                                                   and the Lord has laid on him
                                                          the iniquity of us all
                                            7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
                                                    yet he opened not his mouth;
                                           like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
                                   and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
                                                   so he opened not his mouth.
                                    8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
                                        and as for his generation, who considered
                                     that he was cut off out of the land of the living                                                                            stricken for the transgression of my people?
                                          9 And they made his grave with the wicked
                                               and with a rich man in his death,
                                             although he had done no violence,
                                           and there was no deceit in his mouth.
                                        10 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;                                                                                            he has put him to grief;
                                           when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
                                   he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
                                        the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
                             11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
                                 by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
                                            make many to be accounted righteous,
                                                  and he shall bear their iniquities.
                                  12  Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
                                         and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
                                            because he poured out his soul to death                                                                                and was numbered with the transgressors;
                                                     yet he bore the sin of many,
                                       and makes intercession for the transgressors.

 Celebrating the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross and the miracle of his resurrection
We hope you have a very thankful and very happy Easter...

Sometimes you've gotta get creative...

Yesterday Jakob was playing outside and it was h-o-t. I think our high was up over 90 degrees. He brought me his bucket that he uses to help his dad wash the car and I filled it with water for him. (As far as I'm concerned summer and yes, even spring in South Florida can only be endured with water nearby. I'm looking for the right swimming pool that will fit Jakob and me this summer :) He had fun putting rocks in the water -and then sand- and playing with the mud. After a while he dumped the water out and I gave him some new, clean water to play with. I guess when he got bored with playing in the water he figured out that dumping it out was fun too. I filled his bucket and he turned around and dumped it right out. I explained to him that the water was for playing, we don't want to waste it, if he's just going to dump it out then we're done with the water. I filled his bucket again and handed it to him and he dumped it out. "o.k." I told him "we're done with water for today" He looked like he was about to protest then he eyed my drink I was holding in my hand. Jakob is very expressive with his face and we can pretty much always figure out what he's thinking just by his expressions. "You want a drink?" I asked him. He shook his head yes and I gave him a sip of my water. He then went to his bucket and spit the water into it and came back for more. It was pretty hilarious to watch. I guess he thought he'd fill the bucket with sips of water from my glass. As you all know Jakob still doesn't say much, but sometimes I'd love to see what his mind is thinking. I'm pretty sure there's some interesting stuff bouncing around in there :)
