A new pet in the Preston household...

So Jeremy called me at work the other day, and we had just started waking up all the kids from their nap and I was attempting to send them all to the potty. (This is quite a feat with 30 children all ages 4 and under) He says "hey, what are you doing?" and I said "I'm working," (duh???) "what are you doing?" and he said "nothing." Seeming like a real important conversation huh? In the meantime I'm trying to make sure little boys who just woke up from their nap are peeing into the toilet not on the floor in front of it, and making sure the little girls are washing their hands, not the bathroom counter with the mounds of soap they are dispensing. Jeremy says "I have a question to ask you..." Now I'm getting a little nervous, cause normally questions can wait till we get home to be asked. I said "ok" Then he changes tactics and says(very quickly I might add) "I have a little snake on my desk, and it's really small, thinner than a pencil, and it won't get bigger than 8 inches (last night eight inches turned into twelve by the way) and it's totally harmless..." My first question was "where are you gonna keep it?" "In the aquarium with the turtle" he says. "Is it gonna eat the turtle?" was my question. He assured me that it was WAY too small to eat the turtle. (we have a little baby turtle in an aquarium in the office, he's easy to take care of and cute because he's so small) So I told him that I'm o.k. with the snake as long as he's now the one to take care of the turtle (I didn't mind feeding him) and if the snake is ever taken out to scare me or toture me it's gotta go. Like I said earlier last night when Jeremy was describing his new pet he told somebody, "it won't get any longer than 12 inches" and I was like huh? How did 8 inches become 12? Anyways, I am not a snake person. Jeremy keeps wanting me to touch the thing, and I keep quoting Genesis to him, where God said that the woman would hate the serpent, and the serpent would hate the woman. I feel kinda queasy even when I look at the thing, but my hubby is so happy with this thing, it's like Christmas day or something. The things we do for love right???...

hahaha I am afraid I'd couldn't do it. Love or not. I'm afraid it'll get out of that aquarium! God bless you Shauna! You are a great wife! :)

I am just picturing something horrible.... I will just keep it to myself though! That is one of the funniest things that I have heard lately. Boys are so weird!!!!

The other day we saw a turtle crossing the road (no, this is not the beginning to a cheesy joke!) and Jarred said "mom, can't we keep him?" I said "No way!!" (thinking of how great a pet the hamster turned out to be, lol) then he says to me.... "but mom, I will keep him in a plastic bag in my room!!" Yep, we like to kill 'em round here, lol.

I hope that snake is gone b-4 I come over, lol. J/K.
