Another view of baby Preston...
Yesterday we had another ultrasound for baby Jakob since last time he just wouldn't wake up and cooperate. My mom had said that she thinks he knows my schedule, and since Friday is my day off and I usually try to sleep later that maybe he's in that habit too. So yesterday I woke up at 7 (which is still sleeping in for me) and started my day earlier in hopes of waking mr. lazy bones up. I also drank a big mug of coffee (thanks for the tip Nity!!!) and ate breakfast before I went. Usually me and my mom like to go to breakfast afterwards, but I really wanted him to move. I think the u/s girl got all the pictures she needed yesterday. Jakob still didn't move all that much, but he did stretch out his legs. His little hands were once again balled up in little fists up by his face. At one point he was looking right at the screen and we could see his little face he was also rubbing his hand on his head. He's still a little skinny guy, but he looks like a human being!!! It is just absolutely amazing. I still cannot believe sometimes that we are finally having this experience. After so much heartache, and so many let downs. I've dreamed of these days all my life, and it's finally happening to me. I just love this baby so much, I can't imagine how I'll feel once he's here. He looked kind of uncomfortable in there as he was bent into a "U" shape with his head down, but I guess he's comfortable, cause he didn't switch positions. His position did make it possible to see his boy parts and he is a boy. (yay!) I was so nervous that she would say it was a girl now that I'm all into little boy stuff. He's a boy, we saw it clearly. My mom and mom-n-law videoed the u/s for family, but I don't know if they'll be able to get it to where I can put it on here because they videoed the whole thing, and it was rather long. We'll see. Doctor Hennessey says Jakob has very big feet. I'm still hoping that he won't be as big as Jeremy, but we'll see. I guess he's expecting a big baby right now. He said the baby looks perfectly healthy. I was also relieved about that. I don't sit around and worry if he's healthy, but the thought does come to mind sometimes. I think it'd be so easy to blame yourself if your child wasn't healthy. So that was my u/s yesterday. I don't know if there'll be any more. Two appointments from now I have to do the glucose test. Hoping I pass that the first time... Oh yeah, I have my first stretch marks (uuugggh!) they are not on my tummy yet. They are on the part of me that started out as a (smaller) 34b and have now grown quite quickly into a 36d. The marks are not huge, only about 1/4 inch or so but I'm still not ready to be o.k. with them yet. I'm hoping that's all I get, and if it is I'll be o.k. with them. I bought some stretch mark cream, which people keep telling me doesn't work, but it's worth a try right? Hope you are all doing o.k. If you think about it pray for my friend Jessi (learningtowait) she's having some issues at work that she needs God to work out, And always remember Dana. Hope you all have a great weekend! -Love, Shauna

I am so glad that you and your husband are getting to experience the pregnancy part of parenting. It is an awsome thing to see your baby while he is still inside. And I see he is for sure a boy. When you first wrote that it was a boy I was like..oh man, I wanted her to have a little baby Shauna, then I thought about how your Dad never got a boy....a grandson will be perfect! If you can get the u/s on here I would love to watch it.I read some of your friend Danas blog...I will be praying for her,I cant imagine what she is going through:(
he he... i hope you think this is funny... the way your spell Jakob makes me want to pronounce it the german way... "ya-kob"! makes me think of the best coffee on earth!
can't wait to see the baby bump in person in a week!
Hey girlie!!! I can just see your mom and mother-in-law with the cameras!!! I started laughing just thinking about it! BTW Becci asks to be invited to the blog. She said to tell you her email addy is ldy_bug@comcast.net Love ya! See ya soon!
Mrs. Gina,
You may not know of my obsession with all things amish but I think I saw the name Jakob in one of my amish books, and just liked the way it looks. -their roots are german-
I know the poor child is forever and always gonna have to correct people on the spelling. That's what parents are for right???
Glad the coffee worked! It totally has that effect every morning now - wake up baby, baby start kicking. I'm so glad you had a great u/s. Yeah!!!
Oh yeah - my boobs - same type thing. Although no stretch marks yet. LOTION. Lots of LOTION. That's what I've been trying. It won't prevent them for sure, but it might help minimize them since the skin is more moist (or so I've heard).
