It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Here's a few pictures of Jakob hanging his ornaments on the tree. He actually really liked helping put the ornaments up, for at least the first 4 or 5 and then I quickly lost his attention to something else. His daddy helped for about the same amount of time, then I lost his attention to football. Short attention span seems to be a man thing :) I put out a few decorations around the house, but didn't want to tempt Jakob to getting into too much trouble, so most of them are still out in the garage. We got a real tree this year. This is the first year we've had a real tree since our first year of marriage when we had the Christmas tree that fell over and I vowed we'd never buy one again. You just cannot beat a real tree. They smell awesome and they just look so pretty. The weather down here has been pretty cold. (yes, I know cold is a relative term :) Last night it did get down into the 20's and we actually turned our heater on. The high for today is 64, I think. Perfect weather to remind you that Christmas is right around the corner. I have talked to a couple of you from up north, and let me say a high in the 30's...well, I'm glad it's you living up there and not me. There must be a reason why I was moved back down to Florida (lol). Last night we watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" which is such a cute movie. Even after all the times I've heard it, it still feels so special to hear the story of Jesus birth from Luke chapter 2 especially on television where most people would rather forget about Jesus and all he came to do. It has been a little difficult thinking of things to get Jakob for Christmas. The child really doesn't need much of anything. The things he really needs (like a bookshelf for his tons of books) doesn't seem like a really fun Christmas present. He is really into Toy Story right now. It's all he wants to watch (he brings me the movie all the time) and at my mom's house he was constantly carrying a toy story character around. My mom has bought him Buzz and Woody, and I really wanted to get him Bullseye, but Toy Story is really popular this year and I cannot find the plush bullseye that they released when Toy Story 2 came out. Actually, you can find them, but people are wanting 80-100 bucks for them ( I guess Toy Story is the thing this year), and I'm not paying that. I will wait a while and when they are not so expensive I can (hopefully) get him Bullseye. Other than that I think we are going to get him a little child size guitar, because he always wants to play his Daddys guitar. Some chunky puzzles, because he loves shapes and putting things together. That's about where my list stops right now. We really want to get him a small swing set, but we have to talk to our landlord about that. We'll see. I hope that you are all having a good week and staying warm :)

It's 34 as write this at 3:14pm :P It's gonna be a cold night! Dallas doesn't really want me to drive when it gets cold and possibly icey so it's been a cleaning spree for me :) The pics of Jakey decorating the tree with Jeremy are priceless! He is so adorable! The man attention span is so true when it comes to tree decorating :) Dallas likes to come out and move the decorations after I've done the whole tree up, ha ha! Boys! Well, early Merry Christmas!!!!

it's 37 here, and supposed to snow on friday=)
the tree is so pretty. we've never had a real tree, and i hope we get one next year. i'm sure it smells wonderful... better than candle substitutes. has jakob gotten into the ornaments yet? cause toby sure has, and has already broken one. growing up, i always thought we had the ugliest tree ever, cause mom would only put the lights and decorations on the top half, and the bottom half was always bare, so that the kids wouldn't get into it. now i'm tempted to do that lol.

your tree is so pretty. as you know we always had a real tree when the boys were home. Jeremy was always our official tree picker since he was 3 years old, we have had some great ones. i miss decorating the tree as a family, you know me I am so traditional on everyone putting their own on. But things change and new traditions have begun. Jakob will be your new tree picker outer. thanks for sharing your special moments with us, ♥ ya Momma

Jakob has pretty much left the tree alone. Yesterday he came walking in with an ornament in his hand and I had to get on to him, but I think he knows he's not supposed to look, but not touch

Your tree is so pretty. I was surprised that you got a real one after your story about last time, lol. The last time I got a real tree was in New Orleans and I couldn't even get it into the tree stand by myself. What a pain it was. With my little house I think if I were to get a real tree it would have to be a Charlie Brown tree, lol. Well anyway, your tree looks great and Jakey is so cute putting his little ornaments on. LOve you and miss you!

It is really hard to put a Christmas tree up, you need two people for it. I really thought it would be cool for Jakob to have a real tree, plus they do smell good. Thankfully he knows he's not supposed to touch it and it hasn't fallen over like the first Christmas :) You know they sell Charlie Brown Christmas trees? I saw one at Ace Hardware

Tell me about it. You should have seen me trying to put that dumb tree up by myself. A real tree is so nice though and like you, I do LOVE the smell! These days I just buy pine scented candles, lol. I know they sell Charlie Brown tree's now. Tanya bought one from Kmart recently and posted a pic of it on FB. I really want to buy one but haven't been anywhere that sells them. Then this morning when I was in admissions checking into the hosp the guy who's office I was in had one too. He said he got his from CVS and it was on $8. I really want one now. They are so cute. Maybe I could get away with just putting that out from now on, lol. Doubtful, Jarred really likes to have a real tree to decorate!

My mom gave me a candle that Deanna made, it is some kind of Christmas scent and it smells so good. Jeremy walked in the other day and commented about how good the house smelled. I think it's mistletoe or something like that
