I've been feeling much better for the last week and a half or so (yay!) I saw the endocrinologist today and he wasn't quite as offensive to me as last time. I still think he has a very pushy/brash personality that I don't really care for but I'm not choosing a best friend, and obviously he knows a little about what he's doing, so I'm happy with that. I also went and got my blood drawn for the doctor in c'view who will be checking out my hormones (like 10 viles of blood!). I will also see him while we're home for Jakob's birthday. One downside to slowing down my thyroid is a slow in metabolism. That means I pretty much feel hungry all.the.time.!!! Tonight I am telling myself that I know I'm not hungry, I just ate dinner. I am trying to drink water every time I want to go get a snack. I would never choose feeling badly over gaining weight but I definitely don't want to gain weight!!! I am also trying to figure out how to change my diet a little while staying full. One thing you learn on Atkins is that fat keeps you full on a low carb diet. The only problem is because I've been diagnosed with high cholesterol I am not supposed to be eating fat. Only lean meats. My mother-in-law pointed out that the doctor probably suspects my high cholesterol is something hereditary which is why he told me natural methods wouldn't bring my levels down. When I saw my dad for the family reunion I asked him and he said he was diagnosed with high cholesterol when he left the airforce...at age 26. Even though his levels go down when he's eating low carb they never go down low enough for him to be off the medication. So now I'm thinking that medication will probably be with me for a long time to come. I'm curious to see how much the meds drop my levels because he put me on a very small dose. The doctor told me I need to change my diet meaning stop eating fried foods (I told him I have fried food maybe once or twice a month) stop eating beef (what!!!) and only eat pork once a week. I don't really eat much beef just because it is pretty expensive but I have recently come to love roast beef from the deli. I have switched to ground turkey for things like taco salad and chili. I really didn't eat beef with that before though because we'd been using ground deer meat that Jeremy got last year. I'm hoping that my cholesterol levels drop enough that I can continue to eat my roast beef sometimes :)
Anyways, this is becoming a very boring post about some very boring stuff but it is what's going on right now.
Now some funny things about Jakob:
He picks up my phone puts it to his ear and says "allo" "hi---, how ah you?"
He is ob-sessed with angry birds. He plays it on my phone. He watches it on youtube. We found angry birds party supplies at party city so that's what we are doing his birthday in. My mother-in-law has a friend who makes awesome cakes so she's going to make us an angry birds birthday cake. I love that Jakob chooses his own likes and dislikes. I mean seriously. I would never had even considered angry birds anything but he loves them and I love them because he does.
He also loves birthday cake. He talks about it constantly. I'm super excited for the day when he'll get his very own birthday cake and it will even have his name on it :D he does recognize his own name, both when we vocally spell it out and when we write it out.
He is now telling the nursery workers at church when he needs to potty. The lady on Wednesday thought it was so funny because he just climbs up on the toilet and holds his little private down so he doesn't pee over the toilet. He gets very upset when his pee-pee gets on the floor. I tried to get him to pee standing up but he was having none of it. We'll save that bit of fun for later. Lol.
When we went to the family reunion we went back to my parents hotel and went in the pool for a few hours. Jeremy got Jakob to jump off the side of the pool to him. Once he did it he thought it was so fun and jumped again and again. So much that we were all tired of catching him! Now that the olympics are on Jakob likes to watch the diving and when they dive he says "jump da pool!" I told him maybe he found his lifes calling. ha!
Well, that's about all the entertaining thoughts I can put together right now. One good thing about slowing my thyroid down is I sleep so much better at night. -I used to be physically tired but lay in bed until 3 or 4 am and finally fall asleep.- The downside is by 8 o'clock I'm getting sleepy (maybe that's normal???) and by 10 I'm no good for nothing!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
