takin' it easy and watching Nemo
I have one sick little boy on my hands. It started yesterday when he woke up with a nasty grayish yellow runny nose. Last night it was pathetically sad as he tried to eat dinner but would just gasp and choke because he's trying to chew yet needing to breathe from his mouth because of all the junk in his nose. (he didn't let that stop him from scarfing down the yummy cake daddy brought home from work though!) Mommy was just glad he ate something :) We started benadryl last night, along with saline and frequent nose cleanings. I'm seriously considering breaking out the colloidal silver though (esp. with all the snot coming from my child's head!). I think Jakob is scared to come to me now when I call him. I'm trying to call him over to hug him more frequently so he doesn't think the only time I call is when I want to pin him down and suck out his nose. This is the time when being a mommy gets real. When the worry kicks in (I'm not worried yet, just cautious) and you just have to go into nurture mode. Rules don't matter as much. If the child will mostly just eat cake for dinner it's o.k.  I will not feel guilty about him watching cartoons for most of the day. He needs rest. We will try chicken noodle soup for lunch, but I don't know if he'll like it because it will be difficult for "mr. independent" (a.k.a. Jakob Randall Preston) to eat by himself. Maybe I'll put the broth in his cup and let him eat the noodles by hand (?) Thankfully up to this point we've not had a really bad respiratory sickness. Hoping to keep it that way!

All I can say is when Dallas and I got this about two weeks ago a Homemade Chicken soup was just what the doctor ordered. I boiled a whole chicken, then added green beans and purple/white onions and then made some noodles on the side (so we can add them into the soup and the left overs wont get super soggy :D ) I made for a ridiculously good and head unclogging soup. It really did make you feel better. I hope little Jakey gets well soon!

Well, he didn't like the chicken noodle soup at all! He is a texture guy with some things and he wouldn't eat the noodles. Oh well. I tried :)

poor Jakob..:( gamma knows how you feel. I woke up yesterday feeling pretty bad and now my head is stopped up and hoarse voice...to bad we aren't together we could lay around and watch cartoons. really is nothing you can give him for congestion but suction and more suction. use the saline drops to loosen to up. also add a the humidifier or vaporizer to his room to help keep it loose. sorry baby boy. gamma ♥ ya
